My mind really changed on her when found out she cut her teeth on the drums. I went to a few sources talking about how hard it is to play the drums and do vocals and it’s kind of mind blowing to know she’s drumming for most of their first three records. Including their most popular songs.
Thanks for the recommendation to read this! I was a huge Carpenters fan as a kid, though I don't remember what album(s) I had. Harmony always catches my attention, and between the sibling harmony between the two of them (sibling harmony is amazing!) and the overdubs with the additional harmony, I was in love. Rainy Days And Mondays was definitely a favorite of mine, as well as their cover of Desperado.
I'm not sure if you watch any YouTube channels, but there is one by Rick Beato who goes over a lot of the technical aspects of how they layered their harmonies to provide such a rich and full sound.
I think this has been my favorite one to write to this point. I'm so glad I put them on YouTube. Watching Karen drum and sing with the flawlessness that she does was really memorizing.
