Thanks for the recommendation. Not just because Ten is, and always will be, the best Pearl Jam album of all time, but because I adore this gift that you have shared with your son. A documentation of nostalgic memories will be priceless to him.
The basketball story. Nice background. The SNL price. Fun. Although…if you would have been ten years older I’m certain it would have been Wayne’s World…lol. But let’s be real. This is about Ten.
I’m like your friend and often skipped Evenflow. My top songs Alive, Once, and Black in that order for sure. The album in its entirety, especially when paired with a brilliant blue summer sky and the majestic peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, soothe my soul to this day.
So thanks again Brain. I’m not crying at this sentimental gem. Nope.
Yes sir, grew up in south Jackson County close to Grandview and then moved to Greenwood which is just outside of Lee's Summit. That's where I went to high school.
I still kick myself for missing Pearl Jam when they played Day On The Hill in spring ‘92. It was a coup that they were scheduled just before Ten blew up. But at that moment I needed to be as far away from people as I could get, not in the middle of a giant pit. 😪
I love that you’re putting this together for your son… favorite band and teams, and all those little details that were so commonplace in that time period that are dinosaurs now. This will be so special to him someday, especially as he gets older, has his own family and realizes how swiftly the sand passes through the hourglass of life!
Pearl Jam was never my favorite band but there’s no denying that they’re immensely talented. Eddie Vedder’s voice was unique and their sound practically defined the 90’s. Ironically, “Ten” was the only album of theirs I ever owned. I always thought they called it that because it was ten tracks—haha! We learn something every day!☺️
I hope it is special. Or he'll just consider it ramblings from his crazy old man. "Yes Dad, I know Mookie Blaylock had something to do with their beginnings. You keep watching old YouTube videos of Bulls-Hawks games from the 90s."
Oh my kids are snarky AF to me about stuff like that… BUT when he gets past that phase and starts to realize how fast time is passing, THEN he will appreciate it greatly ☺️
Well Brain

My top 3, Ten songs are Alive, Porch and Release in that order.
Good stuff right here.
And you're from KC. 🤘🤘😎😎
We live about 40 miles northwest but KC has always been "the city" to us. 😁

Ayyyyeeeee! Love this. I found them with Last Kiss, weirdly enough. I think I may have told you that, but I can’t remember for sure.
Great story, love that you’re writing it for your kid!
So many good things in here.
I also don’t connect with Release like others, but I feel that connection with Once and Oceans. The vocals in Oceans are absolutely killer. ❤️
Great one, friend!

Chris where are you from? Eastern KS (Lawrence, Topeka)?
I’ve been in LFK since 91
Eddie Vedder bought me a beer at their fifth show as Mookie … I want that on my gravestone… let the records show! 😉🤣🤷♂️
That is incredible on so many levels!
LFK! You are definitely rooted in Lawrence. My wife and I went to school at KU, ca. 2002-2010.
